Drop-in/OASIS
Our drop-in
centre (now renamed OASIS - Open Access Support and Information
Service) is open to anyone who feels in need of someone to talk
to, or who wants to meet other people in a relaxed and friendly
atmosphere.
The drop-in
is very informal, with no programme of set activities at set times.
You can buy tea, coffee, crisps, and biscuits; listen to the radio
or watch television; play snooker or darts; or just chat and socialise
with other people. There are also a range of other activities that
take place alongside the normal drop-in. These include arts and
crafts, music, and drama.
The drop-in
workers can show you round on your first visit - just come along
when it is open, you don't have to make an appointment or be referred
by a social worker or doctor. If you wish, you can phone beforehand
so the workers can look out for your arrival. The building itself
is a semi-detached house so the rooms are a friendly size, and there
is a conservatory and garden too. Like other public buildings you
can't smoke inside, but there is a shelter with comfortable seating
available in the garden.
The drop-in
is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays between 12noon and
4-30pm; on Tuesday evenings from 7pm to 10pm; and on Saturdays and
Sundays from 12noon to 6pm. On Fridays between 1pm and 3pm there
is a women only drop-in.
Meals are available
(for a small charge) on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The
Wednesday "Eat and Meet" is a cooked meal. On Sunday there
is a Sunday dinner - roast, potatoes, vegetables and a dessert -
and snack food is available on Saturdays. On all meal days there
are vegetarian options.
